The Cummins soon to take on the Ike

Time to place our bets;

I still haven't decided whether the Duramax did lousy or if the Ford is an over achiever. Ignoring the performance of the Duramax I'm going to say the Cummins will do the run in 10 minutes 50 seconds. it will be interesting.

Edit: The more I think about it, the more I think the Powerstroke is under rated and the Ram will run the hill in the same time it took the Duramax .... 11:47

You are too funny. How can a click be accurate.

Yea some are blind and go by what people are feeding them. I have said the same when Cummins posted the best mileage.

Sorry but I hope you don't wager any $ on this so called test. As mentioned too many variables filling the tanks.

Even if so it's still not enough of a reason to pick the Ford, now let's add the good towing mirrors and the tight turning radius of the 450. UH, nope still not enough to make a buying decision. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Iโ€™m not here to sell trucks, hitches, tires, etc.

Bottom line the Ford made better fuel mileage than the GM pulling 30k lbs on what appears to be a flat road using hand calculated method by which most people accept as a acceptable method.

The road I am referring is when they did the towing test NOT the IKE. SO we are talking two different things.

Have you ridden in one towing on rough roads? I have and there is a difference.

The rough roads were on their fuel economy tests. So I am waiting to see how the RAM compares with rear air.

The point is is the road is in TERRIBLE condition. It was a rough ride in my old 300. It was a rough ride in my old Yukon Denali. Itโ€™s a rough ride in my Grand Cherokee. Itโ€™s a rough ride in my RAM. And it will be a rough ride in your beloved air suspension.

I think we have already seen a preview of what the 2020 HO cummins will do. It was essentially a tie with the Duramax although some will argue it was a DRW therefore packing more weight.

What I'm really interested in is the HO cummins fuel economy towing 30k at this point.

The 2500 SRW GM should have smoked the DRW RAM. 10 speed, lighter weight, less tire drag and less wind resistance.

Mileage on all three in REALITY should be similar. Not enough of a difference to make a buying decision.

I hand calculate every tan by filling to the top. Solo mileage computer is .4 higher than calculated. Towing in mountains or strong headwind computer is right on or slightly higher. Never is the computer lower.

^^^ Agreed, I've driven several heavy vehicles- fire trucks, some with springs, some with air, same with semis. The air ride equipped trucks ride much smoother, loaded or empty. I don't know if the difference is dramatic, but the loads these pickups are pulling could almost be considered heavy. 30K behind the Kenworth dump truck I used to drive made a big difference in ride and performance, even though it was not a heavy trailer for that truck.

The "previous" units have. Look in the video of the Flame Red model I did not see the load sensors and did see a big spring pack.

At 18:11 in the video you get a peek at the list of options: Automatic Level/rear air suspension shows up under the max tow package.

Good to know! That will tell us if the rear air makes a difference. I personally already knows it gives a better loaded and unloaded ride.

One thing I would NOT get is that specific package because it includes the Chinese Made Curt hitch. I would get all the other parts of that package some other way.

Some numbers I've seen, show a cattle hauler etc will need 30% more HP than a typical 18 wheeler. A full aero PKG 18 wheeler 30% less HP
On experience I had towing. I got better mph, one gear taller towing my EY with a mini excavator over the Cascades and back vs my TT. Both at 15K lbs, same truck, etc.
Got better mph towing bobcat at 3000 lbs more than TT combo. Wind resistance IMHO is a way bigger factor than many claim it to be vs actual lbs.
