Awesome! We're settled into Chicago but thinking of New Mexico at the end of March!

New Mexico is a lovely state, one of my favorites. Having lived in Yuma AZ for a while, I would travel to the higher elevations in NM to escape the heat.

Hey Gary, I just spent a while looking through your blog posts for your current trip. Virtually all the places and sights were very familiar to us! You've hit some of our favorite areas in the west. We are currently in New Mexico, will spend most of March in Arizona and then April in Utah. Did you happen to get out to Muley Point off of the top of the Moki Dugway?

Sadly..I did not. The sign that says 'Not Passable' in wet weather put me off. It was threatening to rain. I saw a Jeep/trailer going in tho. Hopefully next time will see me there.

For those planning on the Goosenecks...you get there and realize how badly you want a fire...and there is NO wood. Make sure you get some prior.

Gary,

My usual type of questions ... did you take your Class C down or up the Moki Dugway and also ... did you take it into Canyon de Chelly? If so - how difficult?

Looking at the Moki, it doesn't seem like a big deal for our/your 24 foot Class C. My only concern would be dealing with the meeting of someone coming from the opposite direction on that road with our wide rigs.

Great photos though!!

Took the C down...wouldn't hesitate to take it up. The Moki is pretty eye filling place but they run semi's up and down it...so that should tell you something. There are a few narrow spots but also lots of wide.About 1/3 of the way down..watch for the pull off to the left. Big enough for 2 C's...you want to go in there and walk the path forward. A bit of an initial rock scramble but after that, clear sailing. You REALLY want to go see that view.

Canyon de Chelly is all paved...except for the floor..which you could go in with a Jeep, if you hire a guide. Or you hire a Jeep and guide..or you drive the two rims..north and south. You can hike down and across at White House ruins..about 3 hrs, return.
