Our Magna gasoline here in Zihuatanejo at the Pemex has dropped from over 19 pesos per liter to just over 13 pesos per liter as of yesterday.

That is a huge drop and makes fuel much more affordable.

Under 13 in much of Sonora
Saw fuel for $1.29 in New Mexico. Many states have Diesel for $2.25 a gallon. Fuel prices are meaningless when you cannot go anywhere.

At 19 pesos/liter is roughly $3.24/gallon
At 13 pesos/liter is roughly $2.24/gallon

$1/gallon cheaper is a significant drop in pricing.

Wish we were seeing a drop in fuel pricing in in AZ
$2.59/Gas (down a few cents) & $2.88/Diesel (roughly same for months)

Gas is 1.999 at both Costco and Sams Club, and Diesel is 1.969 at Sams Club and 1.999 at Costco -- all prices in Phoenix as of today.

The danger as I see it is if prices get too low, production will shut down. When the economy comes back, if it comes back too fast, there will be a oil production shortage and prices will rocket.

Oil, currently around $20.00 a barrel production is probably not profitable in some places.
I asked an oil & gas guy who was pitching an investment at a lecture if $30. barrel was profitable (this was four years ago).
He said it still was profitable.
I doubt if $20. a barrel will be profitable for long.

We could be in for a whip-saw economy near future.

AMLO says it takes $4.75 USD to process a barrel of oil. That leaves $15 USD.

What he doesn't tell you is the cost of maintaining five outdated and rundown refineries, plus the building of the Dos Bocas, salaries, pensions and benefits.

Benefits for PEMEX workers are the juiciest in the world. And don't forget the corrupt PEMEX union.

MEXICO as a government should get out of the oil business.

Processing in Mexico is probably a lot cheaper than in the US. If production shuts down here in the US, prices would go up and Mexico would probably sell to the highest bidder for refined petro products - provided that it can (sell to offshore customers).
