PawPaw, good points you made there but you left off a BIG one for lots of us:
Going to church or worship services, particularly on one of the most important weeks of the year.

Our kids are doing well with with distance learning but attend a small private school and were getting good grades. I don’t know how everyone else is doing in their school. The “homework” my sister’s public school child was given was extremely dumbed down. The public schools are still working to get their feet under them a few weeks in. I am concerned about those students.

While there is plenty of personal whining on here, many are concerned about others who are not in the same position financially. I am working an engineering job from home with full pay yet I know there are plenty of others will be hurt in this. I have compassion but it’s not limited to the virus medical victims only.

I suspect these forums are a huge case of observation bias with a disproportionate number of retired, wealthier, older folks.

Truth is. this in NOT affecting my personal finance. not even my camping season yet. But it is friends of mine that cannot go to work, cannot put food on the table because they have not had a paycheck in 4 weeks. and No. they have not had a sign up check, Why? because the Government servers can't keep up. Many haven't yet been able to even to open a claim. IF this keeps up. The economy will be killed, there will be not only riots, and house breakins, but countless suicides. You never know what a person that can't feed their children will do. So while it may not be earth shattering for most of us. For tens of millions of others. It is. The country by necessity has to go back to work, and live thru a virus that is more than 98% survivable.

and do remember. The ones saying no stay home for many more months, are the one that this is not affecting.

Yes. All it takes is a few dummies to start the rise of the curb again. It sounds like there are a lot of people here that are will to put my life at risk so they can have a little fun. Stay put and this will end sooner. It really is that simple.

IF you want to save your own skin then you need to stay isolated. You will not be at risk if you don't leave your house and have no interaction with others. Don't expect others to keep you safe.

FIRST they must give us millions of test kits, AND carve in stone that they will NOT suppress the VOTE.

99%. I don't believe the 2% number. Many of those who contract the virus show no symptoms and thus are never tested. The 2% number is based on the fraction who get tested.

What bugs me are scared sick people like jdc1 that call other people "dummies" because he is sure that he is right and everybody else must be wrong because he's always right.

He doesn't realize that millions will lose their jobs and some will become severely depressed and turn to alcohol and other drugs to cope and some will die. Not many as a percentage, but when 10 million people lose their jobs suddenly some of them are going to fall and never get up.

But jdc1 doesn't care about them. He only cares about himself. He's probably sucking on a CPAP machine hiding under his bed. I'm 63 and I'm willing to risk my life to get this economy going again so the damage won't be so bad for my children and grandchildren.

So who's really compassionate and who's selfish.

My bet is the percentage will be higher than that. Probably about the same as the seasonal flu.

Bigger cities will be hit harder simply because they don't have the resources for the number of people that live there.

The current fatality rate is 3.5% of those infected, New York City is more than 6%. Even 2% of he population means over 6.5 million deaths.

That may be the rate for the people known to have the virus but it is well known that many people get it and never get sick enough to be hospitalized. I belive it was Minneapolis that tested sewage flow into the treatment plant and found that the number of people infected greatly exceeds the number known to be infected.

Furthermore the number of people being put down as having died from the virus is probably greatly inflated. If someone ends up hospitalized here for say heart failure and they get infected, the cause of death will be shown as WuFlu even tho the died from the heart problem. There are some that say that anyone dying in a hospital right now will be shown as dying from the WuFlu unless it's very obvious it was something else like trauma.

Again, how do you figure those percentages? They simply don't know how many people would test positive, so you don't know how many people actually have the virus. Without knowing the total numbers of infected, you can't know the percentage of fatalities. You're looking at total number of fatalities as a percentage of total tested. That is not a legitimate percentage to be taken seriously.
