NV is about as bad. They go off of MSRP, even of you have a sales contract that proves what you actually paid.
Despite what the residents of the states that have low registration cost say, they pay in different ways- usually property tax. The government is gonna get their money one way or another.

That does seem high for a 4 year old trailer, but Colorado licensing prices are pretty bad also. That is why the $1200 check I get from the government just goes back to some other form of government.

I've registered a number of new/used vehicles and RV's in AZ. They base their registration fees off the "base" MSRP, before options are added. The AZ DMV does not use the data from your window sticker or any invoices you may have from the dealership to determine the base MSRP---they use their own internal, manufacturer supplied database.
Our '16 Ram Cummins had an MSRP of $54K (with $15k in options), but we only paid registration fees on the base MSRP of $39k (fees were ~$750 in 2016; currently ~$375). FWIW, someone who purchases the same year, make and model truck we purchased with the Hemi engine option (instead of the Cummins option) with an MSRP of approx. $44k, will pay the same registration fees as we did for our $54k truck. Reason being, both trucks have the same "base" MSRP (before options are added).

I'm still trying to figure out why people think AZ registration should be cheap. AZ has a rather high government expense to taxpayer ratio. Proportionate to the size of the government, New Yorkers pay less taxes than Arizonans pay for the level of service received. And lets not forget the sneaky "Public Safety Fee" that popped up on AZ registrations (now being phased out due to public pressure).

I hope all are well. I moved to Arizona in the last 8 months. I want to plate my Fuzion toy hauler. I was quoted $850+ for 1 year. I fell off my chair. The person on the phone stated that they go off new MSRP for the trailer. I said 1. It is 4 years old. 2. I have owned it since new.
I have no issues paying on the used price. It is the pay off original MSRP I have issue. If so, Arizona has a good racket going. RV prices fall like a rock.
Curious what others have encountered. This is one thing I did not figure on with this move.
Jay If the AZ DMV quoted you $850 to register a 4 year old Fuzion toy hauler (fees drop approx. 16% a year), my guess your Fuzion toy hauler originally had an MSRP of roughly $85k. If you had registered it new in AZ, 4 years ago, the registration fees would have been approx. $1,700.

bigorange wrote: AZ vehicle and RV registration cost is ridiculous....a large part of that is a tax on the value of the vehicle/RV. Only good thing is it’s deductible on income tax, but I’d rather not pay it in the first place.
Many states have a vehicle registration fee and also levy a personal property tax on vehicles of every kind. Arizona rolls those two fees together into one annual fee.
Re Fed Income Taxes, they raised the Standard Deduction a couple of years ago, so very few taxpayers now ever have enough qualifying deductions to itemize instead of using the standard deduction.

In WA when tabs were big $$$ I did this and saved plenty of $$$.
Lady at DOT told me she had plenty of drinks bought for her when she heard people talking about spending hundreds of dollars on RV tabs.

Each vehicle/trailer ID number is limited to only 3 permits in a 12 month period. They are also not (technically) valid outside the State of AZ. You could also be cited if your Point A and Point B doesn't match your documentation. It's easy to get the Judge or JP to let you off or with a very low fine, but it's a hassle none the less.
