We have job for summer at Grand Teton. Will be leaving LV in 2-3 weeks.
YES, we will check with state authorities but anyone in Utah?
We have heard about entering the state and getting pPerwork to travel..
Any one in Utah with first hand experience?

We would have loved visiting Utah N.P. 'S on our way, but oh well....

Taking the suggested route up I 15 through Utah and towards Bear Lake.
Will drive @ 4 -5 hrs a day with rest stops/lunch.

Thanks for suggestions and taking the time to respond.

We drove to Mesquite yesterday, Provo Canyon, Provo, I-15. No problems.

Right, it’s hot! Good thing our 2 air conditioners are working well.

There’s a KOA at Fillmore, UT. We reserved a spot there Tuesday night. It’s about half way home and a good way to break up the trip since we’re pulling a 5er for the first time.
There’s a Maverick at the same exit with a good RV fuel island, FWIW.

Safe travels!

Not related to any lodging or activities. Job is for maintenance and still on to report May 15 at Colter Bay.
'Heard' Visitor Center is not opening. The employee dorms mean 2/3 per room and a hallway shared shower room. Don't know how they can have a lot of employees this summer?

I just read that Xanterra announced the opening of some the lodges and campgrounds beginning June 15 for Yellowstone.

Have you heard any news on the Tetons lately?

As far as I know no "papers" are needed to travel in Utah. There is a web page that all visitors are supposed to use when entering the state.

Utah travel declaration form

The route suggested using I-15 to Brigham and then 89 north to the Tetons is the way we go. A bit of a hill both up and down getting to Bear Lake, watch the switchbacks going down into Garden City.

With all the people not working traffic is pretty light on the freeway. You will hit some construction between Layton and Ogden, stay in the center lane to miss the big holes. Watch the lane shifts.

Unfortunately all the state parks are closed to out of state visitors. I would check with Cabella's in Lehi or Farmington for an overnight stop. They both have RV spots.

Sure does go thru Jackpot. We sometimes dry park at Bartons 93 Casino. Also use the RV park at Cactus Pete's Casino. When in Twin Falls we usually stay at Rock Creek County Park or the Filer Fairgrounds.

It's been years since we've been through Jackpot but we used to dry camp for the night across the street that had a sign "Courtesy of Casino 93". Nice wide dirt spot and we were never alone. Always other RV'ers staying overnight.

Love it. We haven't been to Cactus Pete's in years. We used to buy their rubber Cactus antenna toys for our truck radio antennas. They were clean and green for a year or so, and then we'd have to soak them in detergent to get the brake dust grime off of them.

We had family up in Twin and Jackpot was always a great field trip for grandma.

Take US 93 out of North Las Vegas to Twin Falls, ID, then I-84 and I-86 to I-15 at Pocatello,ID. to Idaho Falls, then thru to Victor, to Alpine Jct. to Jackson Hole, WY. Miss Utah altogether! But the Utes have backed off on what they were originally trying to do.

Most of us have driven the 15 enough times we could do it in our sleep now. Driving through NV is an interesting alternative that we should all do every few years. We came across the 80 and then down through Wells to Tonopah to get to Bishop last fall and it was pretty fascinating.

Does your route go through Jackpot, NV and up through Twin Falls? Jackpot is a fun little slice. It wouldn't be a bad place to overnight before crossing over into Idaho.

Interesting route,,thank you. We are also looking for some boondocking spots on our way. Las Vegas is starting to hit high 80's - and even a 90 degree day soon.
We are at TT and have a/c but .....

Any other info out there?

Our 5er is still in our spot in Mesquite. We pulled the flatbed hauling the CanAm home last week. I-15, Virgin River Gorge. Light traffic until the Provo area on a Saturday.

We go through Provo Canyon to Heber, Park City then I-80 home but I-15 north through Salt Lake shouldn’t be too bad. There’s a Walmart in Springville, south of Provo, for a possible overnight. Leave around 9 am next day to avoid the rush north.

We’re headed to Mesquite this weekend to retrieve the camper. 4 nights and high temperatures in the 90’s. Glad we have 2 AC units!

Good luck and safe travels!

Edit: Only way I’d do any UT paperwork would be a final destination in UT, not “passing through”.

The reason was to avoid Utah all together. When we go north for the summer from Yuma, AZ. we use US 93. But cutoff at Alamo to 318 and come out about 15 miles out of Ely. That cuts off about 40 miles and several pulls that are on 93. Also, there is a one lane bridge on I-15 just across the Arizona line into Utah and some lane work near SLC.

Still forming route, but why not take 15 out of Las Vegas instead of 93?
