Use the debit card just like a VISA for groceries, fuel, personal expenses ... then collect what you spend from your own cash, save it until you have the $1200 or $XXXX, then spend it on whatever you want ... or donate it, or whatever.

If you cash it in, the bank usually charges a fee to cash it in... often 2.5 percent or more.

First of all, they sent only one card for my wife and I. Second of all, they got MY name wrong (they used Her maiden last name for My last name). Third of all, I do NOT want to use a debit card NOR pay a fee. Forth of all I use my Sam's Club World Master Card for just about everything Because Sam's credits me 5% of all purchases (yes, in cash if I choose). I will start making some calls.

Call the 1-800 number to activate it. At that point the automated system will tell you how much $ is on it. Have a pen and paper ready. It will tell you once and it talks fast. They will charge you each time you check the balance after that.

Still holding my breath with little expectation of ever seeing it.
I had a good year which pushed me into a higher tax bracket.
I’m still stinging from the jump in taxes owed this year.
Up side I paid for quite a few people’s checks.

Some banks,at least near me,allow you to get the cash off the debit card for no fee. Also walmart allows you to get $100 cash back with a purchase.

We're in the same boat. I wasn't expecting anything until August. This was a total surprise. Our $2400 was prorated down to $1844.38, to be exact.

I'll take ours to the credit union today to see if they can deposit it without too much fee or hassle.

We finally got ours last Friday. Both were checks.
Earlier wife found out that supposedly because we had Hwy on our address instead of Highway,it had been delayed on the Fourteenth, she said it would be mailed the fifteenth and and we got it Friday.
We were told if we didn't get a refund one of the last two years or so it would be a check and second Social Security and Disabled Vets were at the end of the line, so to speak. Kids got their checks well over a mnnth ago.

I finally hit the ghetto lottery Fri the 29th of May and received my $1200 via US Treasury check when I checked my mail, it could have arrived in the P O Box as early as Tuesday since I check mail maybe once a week or so - glad I got it.....

However I have to send $800 of it back to them by the 15th of June to pay my second quarter 2020 estimated tax since I requested and been approved by the IRS to hold a 9 exemption status and not have federal taxes deducted from my payroll (unless I produce working overtime hours) because I am a cheap cheechako and collect the tiny interest myself, as the federal government does not pay interest for withholding money from individuals.

The remaining balance is going to pay for 200 gallons of heating fuel for this winter - free 200 gallons of heating fuel and free paying off a quarter of federal taxes is a lot better than a kick in the teeth man !

I have been obsessed with switching toilets from time to time, but unfortunately, I always ended up choosing Toto Drake II toilets https://bestflushingtoilets.org/toto-toilet/toto-drake-ii-review/. It is quite funny but true.
