We sold our 2013 Keystone Outback and 2013 F150 Ecoboost and bought a 27' Outback and Dodge Ram 2500 truck. The measurement to the top of the receiver from the ground on the F150 was 18". The measurement from the ground to the top of the receiver on the new Dodge was 25 1/2". The weight distribution hitch has way to raise and lower the height of the ball. I can lower it a total of 2". Should I?

Since you have both a new trailer and and new truck, the old truck/trailer measurements have no bearing at all on the new. You need to start from scratch and go through the hitch setup procedure. Here is a link to a long but excellent thread about setting up a hitch correctly. Good luck. It many take a bit of time but the results are really worth it. Barney

OP, yes you need to lower your hitch ball because your new truck sits higher. Don't forget that your old half ton had a softer suspension than your new 3/4 ton. I don't know your weights, but I know that the Ram will have much less squat with that trailer than your Ford did. Take that into the equation when you decide how much drop you need in your new shank.
Agree, those multi piece trailer hitches are pretty annoying once they develop a bit of slop in them. Like 12Vs example, there are 5 places for that hitch to move independently of the rest of the hitch, from hitch pin to ball.
They're Great if you must have all hitch sizes and heights available to you, but expensive and sloppy and not a good value if you only need the "right" hitch for a couple trailers.

OP, Get the paper copy or download your WDH manual. Walk through the set up procedure. That will tell you if you have enough adjustment or need to get another "stinger" or drawbar with more drop for it. It's a new truck and a new trailer. Start over new with the WDH. It starts with the ball positioned relative to the trailer coupler per the manual.

A WD hitch transfers some of the ball weight to the front of the truck.
Yes, that is understood ... and is how the hitch weight is distributed between the tow vehicle and the trailer....but as I already mentioned, it is not intended as a means to 'level' a poorly matched hitch system.
He didn't say anything about leveling the trailer via weight distribution. He was talking about the position of the WD hitch head on the shank - which is the proper way to level a trailer. Barney
