I am curious how many people use "home style" ceramic dishes, mugs, etc. We currently use old plastic plates but we have a complete dish set in our home doing nothing at all. My only concern is them breaking during travel. Any thoughts? When we started fulltiming I bought a good quality melamine by Pfalzgraff. I still use those daily after 15 years. We recently bought a house in Florida. I can't find a Corelle pattern I like and the other stoneware is much too heavy for me to lift into the cupboards. I found a good quality melamine at a home store and bought 8 place settings. Still looking for Corelle that I like, but I really do like the melamine i bought. We have some plastic that we use for when visitors come over for dinner but also have some Corelleware for the FW and myself. Wife is concerned about plastic plates and ingesting plastic that got cut with knives. I like Melamine, but it cannot be used in the microwave. Almost five years of full-timing and we've never broken a Corelle piece. Corelle is also very compact when stacked.
