We will be going out this Friday and there is a total of six adults.

We take turns preparing the food or parts of meals and we have been asked to prepare the desserts for two nights

I have a Lodge 8 quart Dutch oven and I would like to give this a try. Please keep in mind that I haven't done this before so the recipes have to be simple to follow.

I have the following:
8 quart Dutch oven
Lodge lid lifter
Bag of Kingsford Charcoal
Charcoal chimney for lighting charcoal
Long tongs to place charcoal under and on top of oven
Heat resistant gloves

Is there anything else that I need?

Thanks for your help!

I know they sell round aluminum pans that fit Dutch ovens & I know someone who makes his breakfast casseroles (quiche) in them at home then freeze. Defrost & cook at camp. I would think caramel & cinnamon rolls too.

Yes I did! I made a Peach Cobbler and served it with Vanilla Ice Cream and it turned out great!

This is the recipe that I followed:
Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler

We will be going back out for the 4th of July and I'm researching recipe's now.

Charcoal, cooking with soda pop. Those are often the recipes from the Boy Scouts in Utah.

The simplest great dessert I know of is a can of berries or any fresh fruit with a package of muffin mix on top of it. Follow the directions on the package. I like Krustez best, but others will work fine.

Do not put too much heat on it. Put most of the heat on the lid. When it smells done it is done.

Another great recipe is to use canned or fresh pineapple and vanilla cake mix or muffin mix like poppy seed. Add a jar of marachino cherries, and mix the juice in the cake mix. I call this one pineapple right side up cake. I made it for my 65th birthday on a river in Oregon. Big hit.

You mentioned your dutch oven was pre-seasoned but they do need more.
I try to cook some batches of fried chicken or dutch oven potatoes & onions before I use any of my ovens.
We've been cooking in dutch ovens for years and they are great.

Here's an easy recipe. This is for a 14 inch dutch oven.
Melt 1 stick of butter in your dutch oven.
Sprinkle 1 box of white or yellow cake mix over the butter.
Pour 1 can of any clear soda over dry cake mix.
Add 1 can of your favorite canned fruit. I like peaches or cherry myself but most anything will work.
8 charcoal briquettes under bottom and 18 on top.
Cook about 40-50 minutes.
Rotate oven occasionally to cook evenly.

Most dutch ovens listed as pre-seasoned need more work. My personal method of seasoning is to place a couple of pounds of lard, yes, lard, in the pan, get it smoking hot, cook some doughnuts, let it cool, and repeat every day for a week. I get 7 days of great doughnuts, and a well seasoned pan..
My preference for a great dutch oven is a Griswold that belonged to my great grandfather. Never met the man but I love that dutch oven.
