Will a standard residential toilet seat work on the RV toilet?

My toilet is a Thetford and I think a standard round will fit. I picked up a new seat and will take it up to the campground this week to see if it works.

Not in my Travel Trailer. The toilet is smaller and the seat fits around the edge in a lip.

How would replacing a whole toilet be cheaper than a $20 toilet seat?

If it's the cheap plastic toilet with the nesting seat & lid, you aren't going to be able to just bolt on a household seat. So if you build some support system for the seat, so you can utilize a household seat, that takes time, effort and money...I would rather just upgrade to the porcelain toilet at that point.

I replaced mine with one from home depot the day after I brought my 2019 TT home from the dealer.

Standard hole spacing is 5.5 inches

Assuming it's not the plastic toilets with nesting seats.

The porcelain ones, just check the bolt pattern and size...better yet, take it to the store with you.

Seat and cover are a thin plastic, trying to get something a little more sturdy. The plastic pin that holds the seat cover to the hinge snapped for no reason.

That sounds like the plastic nesting seats...probably cheaper and easier to just replace the whole toilet.

It's really not that hard to replace the toilet.

FIrst there are TWO standard residential seats (Round and oval) and 3 Standard RV toilets Round. Short oval and full size Residential oval.

IN MOST CASES if you have a round or full size oval the Standard seats fit.
(Mid size oval.. Well the round will fit but not sure about the bigger one)

SOME toilets have weird mounts however and I've yet to figure out how to replace that one.

Sea-land Standard
Tetford full size Standard
The macerator job I have in the full bath.. Strange mount may take a standard but I've yet to figure it out as the bolts go through the back, not the bottom.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Mine does. It takes a elongated not round seat.

Yes they should, I would however take a few measurements. Distance between bolts, front to back of bowl and side to side.
