I stop never later than 2:30 p.m. or after 230 miles. Not a race or endurance contest.

Just me and my pup. 200 miles a day and try to stop by 3 p.m, sooner if I can.
No hurry. Unless I am staying for a week or two, I drive one day, drive the next day and that night will stay up for 2 nights. Repeat.

Everyones experiance is different. It also depends on, if you have kids, dogs to walk, tow vehical ( some have smaller tanks and get **** millage) weather, etc. So , sometimes the road dictates how many miles you can go. I plan for less then I can confterble drive and am happy when i arrive.

Thought vacation was to relieve stress. How many hours a day do you work on the average? Driving requires much more attention than most jobs. And most jobs, the danger of not doing your job is not that great.
I have heard many say "My vacation is limited, I'm going to drive the 1300 miles to destination in 2 days" I could never see the fun of a great destination if you are in a fog behind 2 days of stress. Find a couple of fun things to do on the way. Get to destination in condition to enjoy first day.

500-600 miles a day no problem, depends on your rig and comfort level.
2017 Haulmark 45' Super C 600hp, 12 speed I shift transmission, tandem drive axles, 3 stage engine brake, towing 26' trailer with an 08 explorer inside.

With the trailer, probably 500-600 would be about it. Without it, maybe 1100-1200.

Time aspect: it depends upon the desired outcome. Do we have a destination with narrow window? If so, many miles and hours “in the saddle”! If a leisurely trip.....drive with comfort in mind!
Expenses: Fuel.....it is what it is, we just accept it as a “necessary evil”! Food......except for perishable items, we can go for 5 plus weeks on what we carry. Plenty of storage space for canned or dried goods and a 5 cu ft chest freezer for frozen foods......minimizes our “on the road” food expenses! memtb
