After 25 years the water heater - UPDATE page 5

specta

This the anode rode I removed when I first bought my camper last July. :E

I flushed and flushed and flushed before all this junk quit coming out of it.

Its leaking into the foam insulation so I'm sure the tank finally rotted thru.

The think that surprised me when I first bought the camper is that it has most every option yet you have to go outside to light the water heater.

I'm going to correct that. 😉

Absolutely, they made it right and right away. Good people.

RELIABILITY.
In the past I had refrigerator with mechanical thermostats and piezo-electronic igniter.
When it took a while to start the flame, fridge would run with no electricity and I remember 1 who at 15 years of age would still freeze ice-cream solid. 120V operation was simple switch.
Now newer generation fridges have whole electronic panel, who can light discotheque on it, but when electronic board fails, you are about $150 short on part and probably $300 on labor if you don't DIY.
To add to anointment the fridge automatically switches to gas mode, when there is spike in 120V supply.
Now raise the hand who is familiar with temperature adjustment on modern fridge?

So where do you draw the line between mistake and negligence?
I am in bad mood, becouse I made a contract for custom window replacement.
The $2500 contract promised by person #1 to be whole brown frame delivered in about 3 weeks.
Than person #2 come over to take precise measurements.
10 weeks later person #3 comes with window who has huge brown flange outside, but rest of the frame is white.
To top it, the trapezoid window is 5" narrower on the bottom than the opening, so the guy was suggesting filling up the distance with molding.
That is what I call Monkey job.
So now the company manager is calling me, but he offers no solution, still researching the options for 1 week and counting.
Shall we blame Coronavirus for the behavior?
3 months are passing and I still live with broken window.

Mistakes happen, especially now. But good customer service is always appreciated especially after a mistake.

OP, you will love the electronic ignition. flick a switch, hello hot water.

My other camper had electronic ignition.

This camper has all the extras except for the winter package and the electronic start water heater.

I have no idea why anyone wouldn't want that.

I am scratching my head on this one.
Is sending wrong unit twice a sign of reliable business? :h
Coronavirus made strange practices. It happen to me more than once, but most shocking was me buying Bosch power driver for about $100, when I found it is not going to work for me.
When I requested return label, they refunded me the money and suggested I give the driver to charity.
Charities are closed, so I kept it :C

They sent the wrong one once, not twice.
They sent the right one even before getting the wrong one returned.

Yeah, electronic ignition is high convenience.
Just in case google Dinosaur board that will match your heater, so when warranty expires, you will know what to buy.

What was the name of the place you got your parts? That is exceptional service and needs to be rewarded by spreading the good word!

They were awesome to deal with. Top notch customer service.

Here's the last reply I got from James,

"Kenny,

We just really enjoy sending you water heaters! Haha, I am very sorry again for the mix up. I've attached a return label that you can use to send the extra back to us. Thank you for your honesty Kenny, it is greatly appreciated!

Have a great day,
James"

Thank you James. Two thumbs up.

It is always coming down to a person who does actuall delivery.

I live in a very rural area. My closest neighbor lives 2 1/2 miles away.

I live just over a mile from my ship to address. Both FedEx and UPS deliver to my door.

I've had FedEx call me prior to delivery and deliver packages to me while eating in a restaurant in town 25 miles from home.

USPS, not so much.
