lippert hydraulic slide out issues

My brother has a keystone travel trailer with 2 slide outs on the rear (one on each side). The slide out system is a Lippert hydraulic system. A few weeks ago while on a trip he thought the battery was going bad and the slide out wouldn't go in. So we plugged in the 7-way to his truck and it seemed to work fine. He has since bought a new battery and was at home getting ready for a trip and had issues again with the slide not wanting to engage. He cleaned up the ground going from the battery to the trailer frame and then the slide out seemed to work fine once again. Upon arrival to the campground the slide out motor once again doesn't seem to be engaging properly. After crawling around on the ground and messing with the solenoid it engaged and opened the slides. When packing up to leave when the slide out engaged it seemed to be drawing too much power from the battery, he had a led light on and it all but went out from the power drain. He has since purchased a new solenoid from the slide motor but still seems to be having issues. anyone have any thoughts and/or suggestions?
