This post is not about the virus or masks or anything else that is controversial. Please do not post anything that will kill the thread. I was reading an article about the tourist industry down by 60% in Puerto Vallarta. Also another about tourists not going to Churchill to see the Polar bears. We all know how things have changed for our RV travel. But what is really serious is the effect on Snowbird destinations. In many of these communities almost 30% of the winter visitors are Canadians. With the border closed Canadians will not be travelling to the USA. Some Canadians with units that remain in the USA may decide to fly. The rest will be at home. This will result in a lack of business for RV parks,Restaurants, gas stations, retail stores and more. Some of these businesses will probably close. Even many American snowbirds may decide not to travel for health reasons.One has to wonder about changes that may remain permanent at RV parks. Pot lucks might be a thing of the past. Crowded music jams could end. Sure does not sound like fun! I suppose that Canadians will now be hoarding winter parkas and boots!

and it can't happen too soon for the reasons the OP expressed and, selfishly, for us who travel to Florida for a month in April to put miles on our bicycles; except last April.

I'm ok with changes like Pot Lucks going away if that happens. I've been to many of them for the socializing aspect but I don't eat the food. We show up after the meal is done. I'm sure most of it is prepared in good sanitary conditions but I can't get the image out of my head of (insert name here) with the cigarette with a long ash hanging out of her mouth, hacking up a lung and wearing a sweater with dog and cat hair all over it. She's the one that prepared the Chili everyone is eating. No thanks.

A Henry Miller article dated August 9. 2020 in the Monitor, a newspaper out of the Rio Grande Valley stated that there are 106,000 Winter Texans and 14 percent are Canadian. This is from a UTRGV research study.

These interesting times will get better. Missing some fun of camping is necessary. A business may die but more than likely it will be replaced in time.

So I take it you don't eat restaurant food either?

So I take it you don't eat restaurant food either?
Not very often but since you want to compare the two things, are RV kitchens and cooks regulated by the local Health Department?

I don't think the park we used to go to in Florida cares that the Canadians won't be this winter or ever for that matter. Apparently they're really busy with locals who don't want to travel to get the 'resort' experience. We've given up our 'permanent' site.
