Currently I tow a 37' TT with a Ford Excursion. We are looking at going FW within the next 5-6 years, and will be upgrading (obviously) to a truck as soon as possible so that maybe it can be paid off before we trade in the camper. Conventional wisdom states more wheelbase is better with a TT, but is that true for a FW? I'll need to be getting a crew cab, but a CC 8' bed truck towing a long TT is going to be a bit to get used to until we make the switch to FW. Probably going Ford 7.3 gas, F-350 SRW. From those who have towed both (TT and FW), do you ever wish you had more wheelbase with a FW?

Lots of people pulling fivers with a 6.5 ft bed so I doubt it's a problem. I went with an 8 ft bed for the storage space. It's only 18 inches longer than a 6.5 ft so from that standpoint I really doubt there is a lot of difference. A fifth wheel hitch will just about use all your bed space don't forget.

F-350 SRW Crew cab short bed. 37' fifth wheel is rock solid. Like above will go long bed for storage if we last long enough to need another truck.

Also long bed never needs a slider hitch. Sliders tend to take up even more bed space.

And real trucks don’t have spark plugs!

Your not long until your nearing the 60 ft mark. I'm just over 50 ft with the 5th wheel but 60 ft with my bumper pull car trailer.
