my set up 2001 f350 7.3L pulling a 33 ft toyhauler triple axle 2007 attitude fiberglass sides,, probably about 12k empty maybe? not sure.

have typical old school 7 pin connect,, 6 surround 1 big one. my prodigy brake controller keeps showing a SH code. even when unconnect. according to codes, this means it is seeing a short condition during idle condition. (no idea what this means really)

also shows nc code intermittently,,, when it is not,, if i press on brakes, i can get a bit of braking, then it shows a "little o" L code, which means prodigy sees an overload condition while operating.

it also flashes a PL which is "power interuption while brake pedal is depressed" code.

anyone have any thoughts,, gone thru this? not trying to re discover the wheel here, what is the latest greatest brake controler out there for older setups? thanks so much for any info

Sounds like brake controller and/or brake power wire to truck 7 pin is failing/shorting
Throws codes w/o trailer connected

Need to disconnect brake controller and check continuity on the Brake Power Wire from controller plug to the 7 pin on truck
No continuity then that wire is shorted some where on truck

My daughter had a P3 put in when she got her first TT back in MAy.. On her 3rd trip with it, she started getting a brake overload warning.... The brakes were jumpy when working.
She stopped at Haydens RV down in VA and they troubleshoot the system and determined the P3 was bad... replaced it with a Hayes ( I think, they are not home yet)

The manufacturer's website warns that water in the plugs can cause this. I had to replace my in-bed plug.

i appreciate this but i will check it out but i gotta say,, i am in nevada, it hasn't rained in about 5 years.. dust is problem thought. and there is no water to drive thru, and i wouldn't drive thru deep water anyway.

Sounds like there is a problem in or near the truck receptacle.

When is the last time you removed the hubs in your toy hauler and inspected the brake magnets and wiring to each... that’s where I’d go considering the age of the unit..l

We owned a 2006 and 2007 Aftitude,... good units...

The brake magnets are all wired in parallel and feed via one set of wires ... this should be easy to isolate and you can disconnect each magnet at back side of hub and do a quick resistance check of the brake magnet to verify its within spec

Should measure around 3.2 to 3.5 o(ms on each magnet when measured one by one

Common issue, go under the trailer and check the wiring to all wheels. They run trough the axle to the brake and rub through the insulation. They may have wire nut connections, check them.

If this "even when unconnect" means without the trailer, the problem is with the truck wiring.
