I’m going to test out my fellow Forum members and see who can decipher this well known recitation. I’ll give clues later if no one gets it:

“Scintillate scintillate, globule vilvific

Fain would I fathom thy nature specific

Distantly poised in the ether capacious

Glittering like a gem carbonaceous”

Most of the words are found in a dictionary, with the possible exception of “vivific”

When my now 8 year old granddaughter sung that at 4 - 5 years of age, it pretty much made grandma and I useless for anything other than sitting around listening to her.

...although if one expanded the root word, I'm not sure "scintillating" carries the same impression as "twinkling".

LOL. It appears that we have some bright people here. Yes, this poem has to do with an object that's light years away.

I didn't think anyone would figure it out so fast.
Although some of the words don't exactly match definitions, poetic license needed to be employed to make it rhyme.[emoticon]

According to Merriam-WWebster "vivific" has been in use since at least 1551.
