We try to avoid Interstate Highways if possible. What is a good route from Cottonwood, AZ to Albuquerque, NM? Looking for scenic routes that are safe for RV's and that have a few campgrounds along the way. Plan to take 2 days to get there.

There appears to be one logical path. 260 to Camp Verde, Payson and Show Low. The 60 all the way to I-25 for a short trip into Albuquerque. If you are so inclined you will want to stop and visit the Large Array Telescope research center just West of Soccoro. I have been on 60 from Show Low to I-25 but cannot speak of the road between Cottonwood and Show Low.
Pie Town has an RV park and a State park in Datil listed on RV Parky but I have not camped along this route.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

Old Route 66 is a nice leisurely stroll with lots of interesting things along the way. Often it's adjacent to I-40 with all it's amenities.

60 is a good road to use. There are some BLM camp sites near Datil, and Socorro has an rv park on the south end of town.
