Wife and I booked a 2 week trip to St. Lucia end of March.
She just informed me that refund was on her desk......no comment.

Can't say that I'm surprised. With cases increasing and the start date of when people will be vaccinated unsure it stands to reason that some areas will not take the risk. We are slated to go to Alaska in June/21 and I'm starting to have doubts that will happen.

RV-less for now but our spirits are still on the open road.

We cancelled 3 weeks at Marathon in Jan. in the Keys. Definitely not worth the risk while traveling and would not want to get sick while away from home.

Being sick away from home gives me pause for 2021 planning; usually Florida in April to start the vacation year.
But we just bit the bullet and made Door County, WI plans for August 2021. Surely by then...

Most of it is airlines cutting costs. They don't want to pay for fuel, staff and wear & tear on the plane to fly a 200 seat plane with 20 people on it. So they are cutting a lot of flights. If the airline only has a couple flights a week into an island, they will just cancel all together and issue a refund. A lot of the island vacations are charters, so it's all tied together.

This will take time to fill back in but it is slowly moving in that direction.

We canceled our trip to the Riogrande Valley of south Texas for the first time in 10 years.

Quite unfortunate but we also canceled all pending and schedule trip for the rest of 2020 and 1st 6 months of 2021.

We haven’t finished camping for this year yet, but we’re planning on camping as much next year as we did this year, or even more. I expect they we have a vaccine perfected soon, and things will get back to normal more and more.

Yep, we don't intend to do things any different next year. Can't hide in fear forever, this virus is not going to go away, and the vaccine is figured to be about as effective as the seasonal flu vaccine. So get out there, and do it.

During the 1918 Pandemic, the closest thing we know about to compare to our current scenario to,650K people died. The 2nd wave was the worst. It is said people had virus fatigue and were reluctant to shut down a 2nd time.
There was also a 3rd wave in 1918. It took five years from the start for the country to forget about the pandemic back then
We maybe following in their footsteps.
Unfortunately life as usual is not around the corner.
