I taught with an exchange teacher from England. I also carpooled with her to work. As Daylight Savings time approached I asked her if they had DS in England. She looked me with a bewildered look. I explained the concept and she brightened. Yes, they have it in England, she said. They call it "The Changing of the Clocks".

I am for doing away it this silly practice. I don't care if we go to just Standard time or Daylight Saving time. Just stop with all the fuss.

It seriously matters to people like me who suffer from SAD-Seasonal Affective Disorder. Our new house has lots of oversized windows so I've been pretty good since we moved but SAD is no fun. Yup, one hour less outside to do outside stuff does matter.


I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be Douglas Adams

RV-less for now but our spirits are still on the open road.

Oh, no! Fall back one hour. That means it will take me about 15 minutes longer to reset all my clocks than it did to Spring Ahead (some clocks cannot be backed up, they have to go all the way around. Time consuming!) Of course, as usual, I will do the clock reset before bed, then go to bed. I will be completely recovered from any trauma by Monday morning.
Sure glad I don't work graveyard shifts anymore...

Flip off the main breaker at 1am,turn back on...clocks at 12:00. Some become auto flashing time too.[emoticon]

That's got to be the best answer yet. There's a number of places that don't do the bi annual switch, there have been studies done it, causes more traffic accidents and other weird health problems.

I think the twice yearly time change is the best of the three alternatives; DST all year, ST all year, or the status quo.
I find it amusing that so many say they HATE DST , yet by what they actually say, they want DST to be permanent!
I also find it amusing that many say that the one hour time change upsets their systems for weeks and yet those same people will drive across a time zone and hardly notice it! "I drove from Indianapolis to Chicago last week and I'm still not over it" has never been said!
Having said that, the time change does work better at mid latitudes, say between 25-60*.
I really enjoy my light summer evenings, but realise that although I won't enjoy the darker evenings next week, we have to go back to ST for a few months, otherwise the kids will have to geo to school in the dark. If I didn't have grand kids, I probably wouldn't care as much. On year round DST, or Sun won't rise until after 9am!
