I don’t know how anyone can stand instant coffee. Tastes like poison to me. I grind my own for each cup.

In México for many years "coffee" was this...

The masero bought out a platter. On it was a tea pot cups saucers sugar and condensed milk.

He poured 110°F water, added pitch black powder (Nescafé), then poured the tepid water. You were expected to add sugar which was tan colored then condensed sweetened milk.

Popularly known as "NO ES CAFÉ"

I sip 180°F black coffee. The girls shrink away. To really gross them out after the coffee mug has cooled I swallow handfuls of medicines. They shriek.

A cup warmer is needed. A cup cold, as everyone wants the house at 68 except me soaks up the heat from the coffee. If I don't drink it pretty fast it and the cup are cold.
If I have the time, I put water in the cup and microwave it until hot and dump the water then the coffee. A heavy cup holds heat for a bit longer.

I recently needed to switch to decaf when my regular coffee started to aggravate my atrial fibrillation. For a while, I was grinding my regular beans and wasn’t being affected by the caffeine. then I suddenly became sensitive to caffeine again, so I needed to switch.

I prefer naturally decaffeinated types, but they’re almost impossible to find. Most decaf’s are decaffeinated using chemical solvents. the natural methods employ water or some other non-chemical means.

Try eating a banana and take 400mg of supplemental magnesium oxide tablets for the Afib. Dirt cheap, easy, and far too many successes to be a coincidence. Don't change your doctor's Rx. This is like mentioned cheap and easy.

Thans for your suggestion, Mexico Wanderer. I currently take metoprolol 25 mg as a preventive for a-fib, along with Eliquis anticoagulant. So far this combination has worked fine, without any noticeable side effects. I may try the caffeinated beans again in the future. Until then I'll just stick with decaf and try to find a source for the naturally decaffeinated coffee.

Agreed, MexicoWanderer. I eat bananas occasionally (not really crazy about ‘em) and do take calcium -magnesium-zinc combo pills. My AFib is virtually gone, but could return on occasion, without me knowing it. So the Eliquis is a good proactive measure. A recent blood test has shown my potassium level to be good.

500MG magnesium sulfate nothing less to start. I was found to have medical center labs of magnesium so low they wanted to IV me and write an Rx. Electrolyte balance plays a key role in neural stimulation. I have not had an Afib event since 2002 but one in 2011 when my magnesium was misplaced in Mexico.

Late to the game, however I am curious...

In my travels, I typically would have coffee as the locals, be it beans that were dried on a road and a path swept for a vehicle to pass, then swept back out on the road (cafe de calcetines, anyone?), or coffee in whatever big city and many ways in between...

As example, here in the states, in New Orleans and only New Orleans, I will drink chicory coffee. That is probably the only flavored coffee that I would drink, and again only in Nawlins... I don't do ANY flavored creamer/whitener...

Milk, cream, evaporated milk, powered whitener, sugar, black, strong, weak...

I do quite a bit of 'espresso', in the afternoon, often changing brand, Pilon, Bustello are big and popular, no problem with small, lesser known brands. Currently 'La Llave"...
I have an assortment of cafeteras and know how to make a lot of foam... Those that know, know what I am saying [emoticon]

For what ever reason (ok, lazy and like to have a cup ready when I awake...) I always have Maxwell House around, only fresh brewed, it's nasty old or reheated! Folgers seems to last longer, retaining it's taste... In it, Carnation Evaporated milk. I buy it by the case.

Tried many other brands, too much to type.

So, my question and please answer and be honest;

What coffee do you drink that can be reheated and retain the taste?

In my opinion, reheated coffee is like coffee that has been ground too fine,... very bitter, quite nasty...

My honest answer as a coffee lover: I would not drink reheated coffee.
I never have and never will

Guy
