Probably, but it's a known issue that can be really significant. It was certainly a factor when I picked a Ram back in 2015. The current Duramax doesn't have one. They're all good trucks, I'd personally lean towards the one without the known issue. Buying used that might make me lean Ram, new probably Duramax.
I read that on the L5P, a Denso HP4 injection pump replaced the Bosch CP4.2 found on the LML.

I asked him to do one thing and he didn't do any of them.

My 2018 has been almost flawless. They replaced the radio due to a Uconnect problem. And the rear tires only lasted 25k from all the towing torque. 33k miles on it, over 20k of those are towing.
Fantastic truck!
JK
Rear tires only 25K????
Must have been some cheap tires or underinflated for the weight
I tow 2K# heavier 5th wheel then your Highland and get 60K Plus on my tires
I keep close to 80 lbs when towing. They are Firestone Transforce, like all HD Rams that I've seen. The fronts have very little wear, and if I would have rotated them (like I will now) they will last much longer. I can feel them squirm when turning left from a dead stop on an incline from the torque when towing.

JK have you ever weighed your rear axle loaded? I am betting you are over-inflating for your load.

Not 13, 14, or 16?
The 13 and 14 had dual rads but still not a deal breaker. Somehow I’ll manage to change that pesky Y coolant fitting which I’m sure will take a whole 10 minutes. ![rolleyes [emoticon]](https://forums.goodsamclub.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/rolleyes.gif)
OOPS I missed 16. 13 and 14 are good but the 15's -18's have a better overall track record. Source, years as a member on the TDR.
Lol I remember the guy on there that had a 2014 that he used for hotshotting and it had a pile of trouble free miles on it when he traded it in. But whatever makes you happy!

Thought the 17's had the CP3 pump? Either way, love mine, had one transmission issue under warranty. And yes, my black aftermarket rims look funny because of all the brake dust on them and I use the EB all the time.

Sorry if I upset you. Not intended.
I did say 13 and 14 were good. What else could make you happy?
I love my 15 but a 16 is better. HATE my backup camera in the rear view mirror!!!

Sure, I go to the scale a couple times a year. In June the rear axle was 6780, and the RAWR is 7000.
I believe the Firestone chart would call for 75 lbs, so I wouldn't say I'm out of line.

Wow, 6,780# on the rear axle with a 5er that has a GVWR of 12,485#, what else do you carry in the bed. Our 5we is a bit over weight, and carries a pin of 2,700#, never had the rear axle on the 2001 Ram near 6,000# with a heavy in bed tool box.

LOL... not a lot! 100 lb Champion generator, that's it.
OK- my Demco autoslide with puck adapter is about 310lbs and my pin weight is 2840, so about 3250 in the bed.
If interested, here's my weights with pretty full tanks and plenty of beer in the front closet.
Front axle- 5140
Rear axle - 6780
Trailer axles- 9200
Total- 21,120

I totally agree; if I were shopping for a new diesel truck today it would almost certainly be a GM.
