I was putting the dog out yesterday and heard the infamous beep from the 5er. Ah, the old dead battery in the dinner is ready alarm.
I go find and test a 9V battery and pull down the alarm. There wasn't even a battery in the thing.
The beep was the LP/propane alarm near the floor.
My fault for not testing the alarm in January when we bought it but it never crossed my mind. Go check yours today.

Good point. But, you need to check them when you buy any RV, new or used.
As we know, just because an RV is new doesn't mean there are no problems.

Yeah, those LP alarms have a lifespan and need to be replaced at some point. Easy to change, two screws to take it out and two wires to connect it. Sometimes cleaning aerosols will contaminate the sensors and cause them to randomly go off and then they're ready for the trash heap.
I will say check, check, and check again that you don't have a gas leak before you assume the sensor is bad!

Odds are the LP/Propane detector runs off of you RV Battery. If your unit is not plugged in to keep the battery charged or on a solar charger, that detector and other parasitic draws will drain the battery. When the battery gets low, the detector chirps. You are going to want to charge that battery before freezing temps hit.

Ok people. His LP alarm is not bad. He is saying his smoke detector never had a battery in it. He thought the beep was from the the smoke detector, but without a battery it couldn't beep.
Good find, glad you found it before it's too late!

Good find, glad you found it before it's too late! Our smoke detector never had a battery in it either. However it was wired into the battery like the CO detector.

The DW tests the smoke detector daily while camping.
As a bonus, it usually means dinner is ready.
