Don’t Use TSD Fuel Card In Oregon

User beware
First use,and strike number one.

Received our settlement statement from TSD.

Apparently, Oregon is the only State that charges and
additional .36 to every gallon of fuel for PUD tax, so instead of the
2.13 a gal posted on the app, it turned into 2.50 after everything.

Should have gone to Fred Meyer.
Just an FYI

Taxes/fees are higher in OR as expected in a state with no sales tax which likely explains the fuel tax.

Every state has fuel taxes. The difference in Oregon is how they're collected. Most states include them in the price at the pump, and that's how the users pay them--the station collects the tax and remits it to the state.

But in Oregon, truckers report their fuel purchases and pay taxes on them later, instead of at the pump. So the price at the pump at truck stops doesn't include the tax. Non-truckers in Oregon do like everywhere else--pay the tax as part of the pump price.

That's why you'll see lower prices advertised at truck stops (where tax isn't include in the pump price) than at 7-Eleven, where tax is included in the pump price because the people buying fuel there pay the tax at the time of purchase.

They don't even mention it on their website, or their documents showing prices at various retailers. Someone once said they do mention it on their app (which I don't have), and it doesn't sound like they incorporate it in the prices shown on their app, but that might be because truckers and RVers uses the same app, and truckers are their real customers.

Current price is showing $1.97 at the Portland T/A. CA is $2.95 just south of Bakersfield T/A or Petro $2.83 Redding. No mention of OR tax but I'm still using the old app as it routes ahead further than the new radius.

Yes. According to the lady at TSD, Oregon is the only state where there is an added tax.... 36c per gallon

Guess I need to stay closer to home still under $2.00 with the card.

Well you can certainly get out of the truck and check what they are doing. Plus in OR you can pump your own diesel.

Fuel tax in Oregon and less than for California and many other States. What I hate is waiting and having someone else fuel my truck. Some of those idiots could easily put gas in my diesel tank.

I think Oregon and NJ are the only States where you cannot pump your own fuel.

So thanks to the OP for the update.

We use Fred Meyer usually to bring fuel down at least a dollar for 35g.
35 x 2 at a buck off. Nice. Makes fuel affordable in Oregon 🙂
We buy a lot of Amazon and I tunes at 4 x points.

This was just a convenience stop on the way South, but a little frustrating.
Still saved .25 so, better than no discount.
Just a learning experience to share with others
Stay safe out there everyone

Not related to fuel but I am charged a "rain water run off fee" and a Flush tax (because I have septic). How's that for a tax?
