Hi,
I have a slightly leaking black water tank valve as of late and have been considering replacing both valves and all the black piping complete. After looking at the plumbing it seems to be a nightmare and can of worms to replace the piping new.
It appears the valves are rebuildable and/or serviceable by unbolting the 4 1/4" bolts swapping out the old, slipping in the new.
Is this the case?
Thanks for the advice

Replumbing the exterior dump lines isn't bad as long as the tank connections are solid. You'll pretty much duplicate what's there with new pieces. If it's not leaking, no need to replace it.
The dump valves are that simple. Get replacement valves with metal handles.

Excellent. I initially was considering doing the plumbing which seems pretty straight forward, but in some spots it might turn into a nightmare.

Yes it's that simple. You will need to unbolt the 4 bolts at the valve and whatever hangers are downstream from the valve. This will allow you to flex it enough to slide the old valve out and the new valve in.

Do it before the valves fail, had one break once, pulled the handle out of the disk. Of course it was a black water tank that was FULL!

got lucky and found a dump station that I could back over, one with a catch basin around it (this was a truck camper so valve was in far back corner. Unbolted the bolts very carefully and got the **** to drain enough to make it work but it was still a NASTY job.
