FWIW (nothing, I suspect!) here's my take on Blackstones.
I agree the 22 is a better model simply because it has 2 burners and 2 possible heat zones.
Seasoning the griddle isn't very difficult, but is necessary.
Watching a boatload of YouChoobs on how to use a Blackstone, it looked pretty easy. Bunch of redneck types like me, chattering away as they deftly whip their food around on the Blackstone like a graduate from BeniHana. Well, no it isn't that easy -- you have to learn the skill required. I flung a lot of food onto the floor, chased it around the grill, got plenty of messy looking fried eggs, and got plenty of expensive steaks looking good on the outside but raw in the center.
My biggest tech issue is getting the darn thing up to its proper high temperature. Seems there is a tendency for it to close the LP regulator when starting it up.
All in all, I like the Blackstone, but for me it is a work in progress. I like my Weber, too!

I purchased the 28" to use at home and liked it so much I got the 17" for the MH. Still have a small charcoal grill to cook barbecued stuff but that is all I use it for. Will keep it because I still have to have charcoal for my dutch oven. Best accessory I picked up is a digital thermometer for checking doneness. Thinking about a hand held thermometer for checking griddle temp. Jim.

My biggest complaint with the 17" model is that if it's cold and a little windy outside the griddle struggles to get hot and stay hot.
For most this may not be an issue but if your trying to make breakfast outside on a cool/cold morning it is annoying. Trying to cook bacon on a luke warm grill is frustrating.
Once you realize the grill is not getting hot enough, there is really no turning back if you have a griddle full of 1/2 cooked bacon!

There are nice storage bags. for the Blackstone grills. I keep my grill in a storage bag. I think it helps keep critters and mice away vs. having a open grill stored in the RV.
There is really no bag made to fit an unassembled adventure model. THe fact that the adventure model would not store in a bag was another deal breaker for me.
Sure once again you could fab something or come up with a hack of some sort.
Or for 50.00 more you could skip the adventure model and buy the portable model that doesn't require figuring it out.

Exactly! I have the 17" and it sucks! Even though it has 2 burners it only has 1 control knob. And yes he corners don't get hot. My buddy has the 22" and it is a completely different cooking experience. Individual heat zones, more complete cooking area, and his came with the legs and lid. Eventually I will get the 22". The 17" isn't even a good cheap model. I would tell everyone to avoid it!

Go to any place that makes great burgers and it will almost always be on a flat top (aka: griddle). It's not an accident.
Now you could argue that you like lines on your steak but a flat top does pretty good as long as you let it get rocket hot first. But otherwise... eggs, pancakes, hash browns, fried rice, bacon, cheese sticks, pizza pockets, corn dogs, cinnamon rolls, shrimp (you'd be amazed what you can throw on them and it comes out great). It's simply a far more versatile cooking machine.

Nope, no way is a flat top burger the equal of a charcoal grilled burger. Gas grill is a different story. And flat top steak vs charcoal grilled steak? Don't make me laugh.
Oh, and a well-cooked steak is supposed to be raw in the middle. Any other way is just roast beef.

Apples and oranges. Each has its use. We have both a small charcoal pit and a Blackstone. We cook different foods on each. We like both. Can't beat the Blackstone for speed.

I wouldn't say a 17" sucks on a average warm day it gets plenty hot enough,but on a cold morning or cool windy day it can struggle.
Being from the windy city I can see where you feel it sucks.
But even though I sold my 17" model it worked well for the most part.
Granted the 22" does work better but for $70-$90 the 17" is a decent buy.
