What can you expect off MSRP?

Hi folks, I’m moving towards buying mode at the Tampa show next week. My primary interest is in the Newmar Bay Star or Coachmen Encore. They are both gas coaches of course. But what percentage off MSRP should be expected? I’ve heard Newmar doesn’t go as low as others. What have you see? Thanks

Before covid a msrp of 186 was sold for 100.

They wont sell for a loss.
Establish the price.FIRST. push as best you can without feeling guilty.

THEN THEY WILL WANT TO FINANCE THRU THEIR FINANCE COMPANY TO GET THEIR PERCENTAGE.

IT IS BEST IF POSSIBLE TO SELL YOUR TRADE IN TO A PRIVATE BUYER AND HOLD THE MONEY FROM THE SALE FOR YOUR DOWN PAYMENT.

Sorry for the caps... typing on a phone....didnt mean to yell.

I just checked the site where I bought my coach and a new one like it is advertised at 25% off but I suspect that it varies by brand and model.

Be as well informed on current market pricing if you are at the purchasing stage, a deal can be had no matter the time of year, state of economy, or national/global crisis we might be enduring. Since MSRP varies widely, knowing the high and low range across the region helps to identify quickly if a dealer is just jerking your chain, saves the hassle and aggravation.

Better deals are everywhere if you are willing to travel, we drove nearly 1K miles to get our current rig. We all want to think we made the ultimate killer deal, rest assured the dealer made it's margin, and then some if falling for any of their upselling tactics. After always buying new, we decide to go with a lightly used Class A, 16K miles and $20K below market.

I've occasionally seen prices that the individual dealer said was the MSRP but that varied from dealer to dealer.

The trick seemed to be put a really high "MSRP" on it and then discount the price.

So my question is....where does that MSRP number come from?

You do realize the M in MSRP is MANUFACTURERS suggested retail price.

Just like cars and furniture, it's almost unheard of to actually pay MSPR...but the question was can you get a discount of MSRP.

I’ve never seen a new motorhome without an MSRP sticker on it. There is a law as well requiring it. I’ve seen it inside the Coach on the dinette or kitchen counter as well.

I am surprised they are still having the show given rising COVID cases. I know the last place I would want to be is with several thousand people going in an out of RV's. Maybe they have some good measures in place, but every RV show I've been to would be an amusement park for a virus.

I don't know if RV sales work anything like auto/truck sales, but the 3rd best time to buy a car or truck is the last day of the month as the dealer is trying to make monthly sales quotas. 2nd best is the last day of a quarter for quarterly quotas. And the best is the last day of the year for yearly quotas. Has to do with incentives paid to the dealer from the manufacturers.

Make a serious offer you consider reasonable. All they can say is yes, no or almost. Remember dealers make money on financed sales. Don’t brag about being a cash buyer if you are.

TT not MH but we picked up a $33k MSRP for $17k in October...so I think the high sales are being a bit overblown in terms of pricing effects.

Also January isn't prime time for RV sales. They've had 3-4 months since the end of peak season to catch up on production and with the vaccine roll out, sales may not be a big next year.

I’ve driven the 2021 Bay Star 3609 and it drives very well. The Encore 375RB is new and there will only have one at the show as I understand it. So no chance to drive it but I want to see it.

I’ve never heard of any dealer staying close to list however. I’ve seen 26 to 30% off plus MSRP at Motorhome Specialists. Just to name one.
