Florida Snowbirds: I just stumbled onto this phone number (had heard rumblings the State Health Dep't was going to do this, to help those who don't have computer access) (866) 201-6313 It's computerized - will ask if you're over 65 or healthcare worker, your birth date, your zip code, and your phone number; then you hear a message that says you will be notified by phone when there's vaccine available in your county.

Again, be prepared to prove that you are a "seasonal resident" any way you can (although our local health Dep't has just been jabbing arms and not worrying about details, I'm told)

No problem's had all of the seasonal resident documentation required.
Publix did a great job/service. Second shot scheduled for late February.

In a perfect world, vaccine is distributed according to state permanent population, regardless that the Feds 'pay for it' ... WE taxpayers pay for it.

BUT, if an out of state resident take a shot belonging to Florida residents OR snowbirds, that's not acceptable. It takes away from actual Florida distribution, and from a legitimate Florida resident, whether a snowbird or a permanent home.

It's NOT about who pays or the money, it's about population allotments.

If a snowbird lives six months in Florida and six months in Michigan what decides which is the home residency?

Here in MD the vaccine is being distributed by county health departments; you must be a resident of the county in order to get a vaccine apportioned to that county.

Counties are geographically small in MD, I live within a 1hr drive of 8 counties.

You got yours at Publix, and the Publix in Key West had a couple hundred to give out but the Health department can't even get any!!

Figure that one out ?
