I understand some one having questions about energy sources going forward, but there is NO reason for me to even attempt to understand why anyone would try to not only resist but to actively discourage development and actually put down another energy source. Seems absolutely short sighted and idiotic to me!

What energy sources are used to make these computer products we are all typing on ?

Oil. Take a look around whoever you are right now and count everything made from plastic, pill bottles, milk cartons, medicines, just about everything you wear, sit on. Computers, cell phones, tv’s. Don’t forget tires. Tires require anywhere from 5 to 100 gallons plus of oil EACH depending on size.

If it comes to pass that oil is left in the ground best be growing Cotten to clothes ourselves.

Yes, that would be nice, and may exist in the future. Not exactly practical today.

Genie and I are definitely into the Recycle and Salvage concept as far as it applies today. And alternate energy. We both agree wind and water power, and sun-power will eventually become viable producers of energy.

And, there's always a BUT, when anyone discusses an agenda that makes a radical change in our society, or even our individual cultures within society. We're a long, long way from discarding petroleum as a power producer and byproduct manufacturing. Someday, maybe when technology advances enough that manufacturing the products that even make it attemptable, let alone feasible, we may get there.

Sit in your home sometime, and turn off or throw out everything that contains oil, gas, or a byproduct. Then, you might as will sit in your yard and watch leaves grow. Not a bad idea itself, but certainly not effective in our lifestyle today.

Think about the Brown Recluse spider. It's web is five times stronger than steel of the same diameter, and can stretch two to four times it's length before snapping. And here's that nasty old BUT again, we're decades away from a spider web hammer and nails, or a spider web chisel.

Not too long when you take into account these boards are moderated more by the mods personal opinions or feelings than they are by any published rules or guidelines.

Not a problem, just look at the lockdowns which were imposed with little thought. Stopping an economy in its tracks is no big deal. How many masks do you have to wear this week? 3? 4? Half a dozen?
