Sometime back, maybe a month, I talked with a GS RS agent and asked my account be taken off auto pay (no way to do that on website). I was assured it was removed. Unfortunately I trusted the agent (my mistake) and did not record time date and name. Today I see I have been billed for another year against my wishes. I have been on hold for about 1/2 hour waiting to talk with an agent to try and reverse this. Go figure, all agents are busy, how convenient. I had decided I no longer wanted or needed GS RS, hence the request to not auto renew. This is shady at best and unethical but from what I read here this is SOP anymore for GS.
Honestly I have no problem with the service, I just don't need or want it anymore. I would appreciate it if someone from GS RS would "reach out" to me and fix this.

If it was paid via a credit card, notify your cardholder of a fraudulent charge and see if they will reverse it.

I agree with above. Your credit card company will hold payment and go back to GS and contest the charge.

Ever since someone came up with the idea to do auto-renewal it has fried my behind. Now before I sign up for anything, I read whether there is an automatic auto-renewal. If there is, I do one of two things. If I can, I'll call them and say I don't have a credit card and ask if I can send them a check. If I can't do that, I'll go buy a pre-paid Visa or MC card and put just enough money on the card to cover the cost of what I'm purchasing. That way when auto-renewal time comes, they get nothing. If I can't do either of those things, I don't need or want what they're selling. It's a pain in the neck but what happened to you happened to me with another service and it was months before I got the problem resolved. Never again!

I asked him to do one thing and he didn't do any of them.

While somewhat on-topic, some advice I got from a CPA years ago was this: 2 cards - one for everyday purchases (gas, restaurant, groceries, etc), and a debit card from AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT BANK, loaded with only a small amount, for online purchases. That way if the online card number gets hacked, or compromised somehow, the bad guys don't have access to your "main" accounts.

Your best option might be to cancel the credit card they're debiting. However, it's not always that simple.

The multiple accounts/credit cards suggestion is a good one. I've been using it for years.

I've heard mention of a credit card that you can create a temporary one time only virtual number. No company or anyone ever sees your actual credit card number.
You create this virtual number one time use only for use with a specific vendor and specific one time purchase.
That's all I know about this, check it out and let us know.
EDIT: Looks like Capital One has this.

Interesting, I ask for someone to "reach out" and help and get no response from GS. Another poster after me complains and someone "reaches out" right away. Choice of words I guess.
Anyway, I no longer need your help, after spending an eternity on hold I was able to talk with a live person who says they have reversed the charges.
Next step, cancel GS account then the CC.
By the way, I've been with you since 2004
