Just wondering how long you all drive in a day? My wife and I leaning towards a hard fast rule of 8 hours a day at the most.

Lots pf previous posts on this subject. The range is from our 200 miles per day to drive all day.

Depends on your time frame, fulltimers 150-250 miles. Folks with limited time it can be much more. Before retiring we would do 400 miles plus on vacation for the initial drive to our intended vacation area.
And yes this is an often discussed subject, lots of thread but it boils down to what I set out.

Have done 10 to 12 when we were still working. But dropped that to 8 or, preferably, less now. 5-6 is better.

I've done >13 hours before, wanted to get south of Atlanta the first day from NE Ohio. I've learned that that is anti-vacation mode so now I try to keep it under 400 miles a day, unfortunately that can still be a long day if traffic doesn't cooperate.

About 6 hours in the saddle is enough for me.... unless I really need to get someplace.

Depending where we need to be, it varies from 6-8 hours, 350-450 miles per day. One variable is how long we stop for lunch. Stopping time is always no later than 4 PM, so we have ample time to get settled before dinner.

similar for us. there are occasions where we have done 400 or so in 1 day, but only when we are going to then stay for days/weeks.

Like to leave around 9ish in the morning, be parked by 3ish, 4 at the latest, relax have a nice happy hour and dinner.

But we are retired so have more flexibility.

We still work, so we will push to get somewhere depending on time and what is between home and final destination. We did Marathon FL (Keys) to ATL in one day it was 850-900 miles. Left at 8am, and got home at 2am, we took a couple of extended stops to walk around a bit, and there was a wrench that had us stopped for 2 hrs. That was too much for one day. They next time we split it up.
