Need your help guys,

I Just sold our home and living in our Coach 4 miles away in the same city. I pick up our new coach in May. What do I do for an address living in a motorhome in a motorhome park? I never thought of the titling side of things and need to figure it out by May.

Have you guys had to deal with this?

Depends on what YOU are looking for. Many options are available. The best way is to follow the IRS guidelines for residency. In a nutshell, the IRS states your domicile State, i.e. your home State, is defined as the State you MOST LIKELY will go to when you re-establish a permanent home. In other words, where you MIGHT end up when you're through full timing. Keep in mind though, if you're still employed, either full or part time, those 'rules' wouldn't apply. We use SD because there's no State income tax to file, sales tax is cheap @ 4%, no safety checks, no smog checks and most everything can be done on line. Driver licenses are good for five years but you must visit their State for one night in order to renew. If you are still employed, simply stop by your local UPS store and get a mail box there. Use the stores address as your mailing address with your box number as an apt, lot, etc.....Dennis

Our state is North Carolina and we are retired and will be staying here, at least for the foreseeable future.

get a post office box. if you're staying local.
if contemplating travel a forewarning service would be the better choice.

I don’t believe a P.O Box can be used for a title and license plate?

I believe this to be true, which is why many use UPS as you get a physical address.

To OP, does the park you’re planning to stay in allow you to receive mail and packages there?

Hi wildtoad and yes they do. But the post office recognizes it as a business address and I don’t believe that qualifies?

My choice would be St Brendan’s ..... keeps your Florida residence since you already are a Florida resident. It provides a “real” address for all your mail and the service will forward to you or toss on your schedule and orders. You can just transfer your existing driver’s license etc. a plus is Its a low cost county for insurance etc. ( or so I’m told). The only problem might be if you are financing , not having the sticks and bricks can raise the rate. Most times people buy while they still own, but if you aren’t financing it’s not an issue.
