Free overnight camping in small towns
I have heard that many small towns offer free overnight camping such as electrical hook up for a small donation. How do I find these small towns?

Fairgrounds are another common source...but again, we haven't found where they are free.

Last year we stayed at Pima County Fairgrounds, Vail, Az. with full hook-up and WIFI for $27.00/night--w/Good Sam Discount. This is S. Tucson area off I 10. Definitely would go back there.

Tomball Texas - 3 nights free. Vulcan Alberta up to 3 nights free. Just off top of head. There are some still around, albeit over recent years with cost cutting/irresponsible people prior they have diminished. Check out Ioverlander or Freecampsites, often find some in there folks have stumbled across. Most of ours listed have come from over a quarter century keeping notes from readings but ..... Yep there are still some out there, just not as many as years ago.
Happy Trails.

A useful source for free or inexpensive campgrounds is the Ultimate Public Campground Project. AllStays also lists some, but not all the small town campgrounds.
