Truck Shopping for Fiver

It's been awhile since I have been on the boards. Looking to move from the current lashup ('02 Suburban 2500 LT, 8.1l / '05 Jayco Eagle 29 BHS TT) to a Fiver and Truck.

Settled on a Jayco Eagle Fiver 336FBOK

Unloaded Vehicle Weight (lbs) 11,745
Dry Pin Weight (lbs) 2,215
GRVW (lbs) 13,750

Total Exterior Length 39' 8"
Exterior Travel Length (Pin box to bumper) 38' 9"

Going with a 3500 Diesel, Club Cab.

Questions:
1. Long Bed or Short (6'4")?
2. If short bed, sliding hitch -- Manual or automatic?
3. DRW or SRW?
3. Minimum Payload (The range has been 4,200 - 5,500 in my searching, only duallies so far)
4. Minimum Towing Capacity? (Range has been 23k - 30k, so I'm OK there so far)
5. Fuel Tank / In-Bed Aux Fuel. So far it's been 31 or 50 on the truck. Think I'll be OK with 50 and not have to add an In-Bed Aux Fuel.)

Regarding slider hitch - RV Dealer told me most ppl never use it. (I assume they are not backing up at sharp angles and/or have tapered front on their fiver?)

This will be the biggest (and likely last) RV as we are both now retired and plan to do extensive travelling and will be in the Rockies and other high elevations.

It had 99% of what we wanted so we did the deal! $20k+/- under the Limited. Picking it up later this week.

I would think the Limited would have leather , the Laramie is fake ,other then the trim of the seats, the seat bottom ,and back are fake, they are identical construction to the Longhorn, other then the Longhorn is all leather I assume from the glowing review from 12V98 :B

My Son has a Limited and the leather is as nice as my LongHorn. These two are far nicer than the regular Laramie and a lot more leather.

From what I remember the Laramie leather was stiff in comparison to the supple other two.

And yet ,I drove the early 99 Superduty XLT for nearly 16 years , thought I wanted an upgrade so I went with the 2014 Ram Laramie. Have not really enjoyed the seats nor the leather interior of the Ram truck, what leather there is ๐Ÿ™‚ My son has a newer Bighorn, and I prefer it over the Laramie, it has about everything the Laramie has except the leather interior, and ventilated seats .

Sounds good but If anyone would wish they had one it should be me towing 34k and more West Coast. The little difference between gears is so minimal already, NO THANKS.

You guys are so cute with your leading questions under the guise of a legitimate query and/or blind/staunch defense of the current steering wheel you sit behind.

But I'm sure the mfgs are all wrong by offering transmissions with MORE gears. Stupid engineers. They should hire YOU to tell them what to do.

I did just the opposite. โ€œThoughtโ€ I wanted a Laramie and sat in my folks new LongHorn.

Looked at Laramies and simply could not buy one and have now owned two LongHorns. Still worth the extra $$$ for us.
