Wife and I file jointly and the 1 payment are direct deposited into checking account.
Can someone explain to me why they are getting two deposits. One for each person.
Our payment hit our checking account on March 15. We both receive SS and pay taxes on it and other income.

The payments are attributed to Social Security numbers for those who have them.

Probably because you file taxes jointly, and pay taxes jointly from the same account, not separately.

We get two deposits because my wife has an account where her SS comes every month. I also have an account where mine comes every month - different accounts.

Also, if for example, you are a DAV veteran, or retired military, you will get separate deposits from the VA or Military. Some will get separate, some will get one deposit for both.

This might not apply to you but it did to my daughter and son in law. They changed the income level to qualify this time around. They raised it a tad. So, just because someone is on SS, it doesn't mean that this is their sole source of income. I have a couple of retirement accounts along with my SS. Just a possibility.
