Well why would you want to heat HOT water?

Now to answer your question YES. and that's not a good thing
Same for the electric element it will come on without water.. Till it burns up.

IF your water heater is an ATWOOD or like there is a foam pad with the letters E.C.O. and T-Stat on it. Remove one of the RED wires from the E.C.O. when you drain the tank, Reattach after you refill the water heater...
What does this do.. Prevents you from saying OH CH!!!! I did not fill the tank.. (I've forgotten the wire. and Why the )[email protected]#$R did the fault..... oH I forgot the wire.) But I remember to fill the tank when that happens.

Home is where I park it.

YES...either Suburban or Atwood will fire (light off the porpane0 or electric element) if either are turned on W/O water in the WH Tank

If you drain it.....
Open the AC Circuit Breaker for the ELEMENT and remove Spark Electrode For SUBURBAN Model

Pull the 2A fuse on water heater circuit board for ATWOOD Model
*That stops AC & LP from functioning

If you turn on the Electric element W/O water ---it will burn up within a few minutes------have to replace element

If you turn on the LP it will fire and the Tank will get REAL hot REAL quick and the T-stat will OPEN stopping the firing
**If that happens let it cool naturally...do NOT fill with water until cooled down---you will damage the tank/tank lining

Water is only COLD upon initial filling.....reheat occurs when water temp gets to 110*F....that is still considered HOT
So get off the semantics Sheesh.

Is it time for your medication or mine?

Mine heats hot water. It comes on when the water temp hits about 120 and goes off when it hits about 140.

Yep. Only time mine heats cold water is the very first time I turn it on. Each time after that it heats the hot water. So more often than not, it is a hot water heater. [emoticon]

Yup. That is what "hot water heaters" are for, to make the hot water hotter.
I thought everyone knew that.[emoticon]

THAT^^^^ has nothing to do with whether or not water is in the WH Tank

What Brand/Model is it.....

Had it in for service and they said it wouldn't light on LP
BUT didn't find why/fix why?????

Great service.........horse pucky!!

LP is a simple 12VDC Circuit
Generic....
DC from fused source goes to LP the On/Off Switch
From switch it goes to
*DC Junction box on Suburban---then to the set of DC T-stats----then to circuit board----from circuit board to the gas valve/spark electrode

*DC goes to Circuit Board on Atwood....then to/thru thermals fuse and T-stat back to circuit board. Then goes to/thru ECO (high temp t-stat) and then to gas valve and Spark electrode

So follow the DC....simple

Post Brand/Model for specific info
