We still have our old landline till everybody has our new cell number.
The only calls we get lately are garbage, we don't even answer it anymore, let the machine pick it up.
Getting dumped soon.

The ones I get are mostly from off shore and they wouldn't understand what on the air meant

We have a landline as main phone number
Our Phone company has a greeting that states
"This number does not accept solicitations, please hang up. To connect press 1"

Our phone does not ring unless the 1 has been pressed
Scam/robo calls have decreased to almost Zero

Cell Phones.....yeah we have 2 of them
Both are flip phones...not smart phones cause we only use them when we leave.
They do not work very well when at home due to location of our house and tower line of sight
We get a couple of 'stupid' calls every week or so....but only find out about them when we go somewhere and turn them ON

Phones are NOT big priorities nor is being 'connected'

Is it time for your medication or mine?

Fifty years ago these yahoos called between 5:00PM and 7:00

I "invented" something that worked well...

Ring Ring
"SPEAK"
pregnant silence

"HOW DID YOU GET THIS NUMBER?"
click

Friends told me it was really intimidating.

My favorite response to scam phone calls is to answer; "It's done but there's blood everywhere"

I'll answer with Drug Task Force**** and engage them and won't let them hang up sometimes if I recognize it as a repeat telemarketer.
However most of them seem to be robocalls now and they have your name,If you call back to see who it is they pick up immediately and address you by name. Some times three four times day, "your car warranty is about expire."

Since they originated the call, you can't stop them from hanging up. Most hang up as soon as they realize they won't make a sale. And many, if not most, are from offshore, so they don't really care who answers the phone. Whatcha gonna do to 'em?
