AC is dripping what seems to be like a lubricant

Hey all, my wife noticed something that she thought was water dripping from the AC unit. opened it up and it looks like the hamsters wheel kind of thing is actually throwing some sort of lubricant out. As I am typing this I'm assuming its not good... anyone have the same issue and how did you solve it?

To me, if it was lubricant of any type it would have caused issues soon after the leak was detected. I know first camping trip of the season the water coming off the roof from the AC condensation seems slimy for awhile.

Hope it goes well (and not expensive) for you.

Yeah, i have been monitoring it, and it was running a lot the last few days and i was thinking maybe condensation was making it drip with some left over lubricant that was flung on there long ago.. we shall see though. The guy at coachmen assured me that its probably fine. ๐Ÿ˜•

Ok, just tossing this out there, but by any chance could it be rodent pee/droppings or some combination? Sometimes looks like a thick, dark oil after some time. I first noticed it a long time ago under a storage bay door on our rig with about a 2" dark "oily" spot on the concrete underneath. There is NOTHING mechanical anywhere NEAR that area. Upon investigation, there was evidence of mice in that bay/area.

Did you find any other evidence of critters inhabiting your motorhome over the winter?

Those little buggers can get anywhere!

Good Luck,

Is this the first time the AC has been used. I would catch some of what is dripping and rub it between your fingers. It's under warranty so let it run for awhile. Also call the dealer and explain, it's not a big job to swap one out.

If you have any lubricant dripping from an AC, that's neither normal nor good - something's leaking.

No issues cooling, and no odd noises or smells, everything seems to be working just fine. I was thinking that maybe because its a new rig (october last year) that may be something as well.

The hamster wheel is underneath everything that could have oil in it. The compressor has oil and there is some oil in the refrigerant itself. Is the unit still cooling? Any unusual smells?
