Patch your hole with what ever you wish - You can then cover the patch with a Dent Vent -- It is really a fake vent made for problems like yours -- Amazon has them in different sizes -- Just Google RV, Dent Vent to find them -- Bill Willard

Yes. There is impact damage (dent) and a small irregular hole.
The only other thing I can think of is a bungee cord end rubbing in the same spot all winter and somehow the end poking through. I highly doubt that though.

I used a soda can, cut a patch from it and then bedded it with 3M 5200 and screws to anchor it over the hole.

Small holes or punctures are easily taken care of with a dab of cilicone..

Silicone should not be used on aluminum or any where on a camper . There are a number of caulks compatible with aluminum, dicor , trempro 621 , etc..

Bigfoot still uses silicone to this day I think...About every RV shop uses it and I've had and seen many aluminum truck campers and trailers with pin holes from this and that with just a dab of silicone never to leak..
Silicone has its place as Bigfoot industries has proven....I agree to disagree..

Bigfoot is fiberglass not aluminum . Once you use silicone you cannot change , other caulks will not stick to the residue from silicone

It's for a small hole in the siding, not a yearly reseal..It would have been better to see the actual hole then to guess how big etc but regardless silicone gets a bad rep on this forum and the internetas it is...One of my favorite replies to the silicone is junk theme from another poster..
Keystone RV and quite a few other brands use neutral cure silicone caulk on all metal to metal, metal to fiberglass, or metal to plastic joints / seams. Basically everything on the sidewalls except the gutter rails to roof. The only place dicor is used is at a seam that involves roof membrane.
Keystone uses Tremco Trempro 645. Its not the silicone you buy at the big box. Dow Corning 790 is another good neutral cure silicone specified for vehicle applications.
As with a lot of things on RV boards you need to wade through the BS. Idiots tried in the past to put cheap acetic cure silicone they bought at Big Lots or Ollies over poly or something else, probably without any type of test or prep to know what they were dealing with, and it failed. Then they posted it on some RV board, and away it went LOL.
