Bought a 1999 Ford F-350 and a 2000 Wanderer Wagon 5th wheel 32 foot in California in March & April 2020 from private parties. Couldn't register either in Cali because DMV was closed due to Covid. Moved to Arizona at the end of April 2020. Went to the Kingman ADOT MVD & registered BOTH of them for two years for $208 TOTAL. Good luck getting a similar deal in Cali. My 1996 GMC Suburban's registration was almost $200 (and going up every year) for 2019/2020. I sold it before I moved.

But, in AZ. the first owner pays sales tax, the second owner is no longer required to pay sales tax. It is only collected one time when the vehicle is new.

Iโd ask at an AZ DMV office if I couldnโt do the math. But does it really matter if you will register there anyway?
