The vents are screwed down into the plywood roof, and then covered with goo.
You will need to scrape away the sealant and expose the screws.
All while trying to be careful and not stab a hole into the roof material.

Bummer man. New cover and frame might be the best bet if a neighbor is redoing the roof. Nice of you guys to help her.

Probably not.... but hole is a standard size that a new different cover should fit.
