I consider 300 mils per day plenty. Also on a trip like that, if going strait thru, I stop for a day every second day. In reality for your origin and destination I would break the trip up into multiple legs with multi day stops, as between those places there are many things to see and do along the way.

We wouldn't travel over 300 miles/day on that long of a trip if you're retired and have the time. Working vacationers do more. Pull in early afternoon, relax, have a nice meal, maybe some siteseeing.

You have 2000 miles which at 300 mi/day would be 6-7 days of travel. If planning to sitesee or spend more than an overnight at stops then add days.

No need to make reservations enroute if you pull in early and stay away from major attractions. If worried then call early in the day or day before so you can better judge where you'll end up. If you're going after summer better yet. The Canyon is great in Sept/Oct.

For Grand Canyon... have reservations.

Sorry, Live Oak FL to Grand Canyon. I think google said it is 2000 miles

Fifty miles per hour average is at the bottom end. You might squeeze 55mph average. Some days on long Interstate runs we will average almost 60. That is driving the MH around 71 or 72mph. Remember that that includes gas and food stops. We usually travel around 350 miles per day and rarely exceeding 400 miles. That is comfortable for us and the furballs. We never stop for a sit down lunch. We either pack one or grab a Subway. Trying to drive an RV 8 hours a day will just wipe you out. You would be a hazard to yourself and others.

Since you are new to the cross country dash. You probably should figure on 40 hours drive time. You would be looking at 6 long days. I would allow 7 days.

We are doing the reverse in October and will take 8 stops. Apache Junction to Spring Hill. Two will be multi day ones and seldom go over 300 miles per day. Two at 370 and 2 at 340 this time.

I've done that trip 4 times with a 26' U-Haul. 4 days. 3 days by car.

Mark Twain gave a good answer but if you are pulling a toad I would change the 50ph to 40 or 45 mph.

I agree.
Retired means that I am in no hurry. I get tired after about 4 hours of driving. My daily travel distance ends up being around 200 miles.
