this may be a stupid question but i'm gonna ask it anyway. Can you run a steel wheel on the rear inside and a Alcoa aluminum wheel on the outside without any issues. I'm thinking it should be no issue, but just want to get some valuable info from you all. I want to buy 4 Alcoa wheels to put on my coach and I plan on running two steel wheels on the inside of rear axle. Thanks for any info.

I do believe I had a motorhome set up like that. Also I think my 2012 Ram Dually had the Alcoa's or similar on the outside and the inners were steel. The people you are purchasing the rims from should be able to tell you for sure though.

Yes, there were some OE coaches fit that way. Saved the manufacturers a few $$.

That’s how all the F53’s come. My 12 is like that and my buddys 17 is the same way.
They are coated but I would use anti seize where the wheel goes around the hub, dissimilar metals.

My last 2 DPs were that way as is my F-350. I don't think I ever saw an Alcoa on the inside

Most all motorhomes with Alcoa wheel options are built that way. Also the front wheels are a different offset than the rear wheels.

Yes you can run steel inners and aluminum outers. Deal with a tire shop that does trucks and they will use a teflon ring between the wheels to prevent electrolisis between steel and aluminum.

Many trucks are sold with steel on the inside. In years past there was a disc between to reduce corrosion where the dis-similar metals meet.
Something to look at is the studs. Will they be long enough to get a full nut with the thicker wheels?

You might need new longer studs on the rear drums or rotors. Aluminum wheels are much thicker than steel ones.
