I don't want to be explaining to a judge why I'm not in violation of his state laws. There have been many past discussions on state laws concerning aux brakes. The OP was asking about towing a VW Bug. The brake debate comes up over n over, each side has been represented here so let's let it rest. The "automatic stick shift", however, is not considered towable. As previously stated, it is doubtful if any existing aux brake system will work with the brake pedal in any of those vehicles. For best information, check with the system manufacturer. Be sure to get whatever they tell you in writing. Good luck.
