For those of you that have ordered a new 2022 HD truck, what delivery date have you gotten from your dealer? I ordered a HD Silverado Duramax last week and had him wright into the contract that I get my deposit back if not delivered by January 1st. I am thinking I am going to get my deposit back!

As of mid July, Ford had over 60,000 2021 vehicles built but parked around the country awaiting chips. I assume Chevrolet and that other brand, Dodge Ram are in the same boat. You are probably correct on getting your deposit back. I would think the big 3 will have to heavily discount those parked units to move them once regular production and chip availability resumes.

If you don't need the truck why are you ordering it?
If you do need it why would you want to get 4 months in, cancel the order and start all over again?

Ford dealer told me 4-6 months delivery on F150s. But that customer orders were getting priority over general orders and expecting 3 month delivery on those. But seems chip situation is getting worse, so that may not hold.

Guessing you are like me. Ready for a new truck but nothing that I want from the limited stock on dealer lots. Keep driving what I got until when and if new one arrives.

Like most new truck buyers, I don' need a new truck, but it is time to update before I head out to my winter location.

As far as canceling the order, think about what is going to happen once the chips start hitting the market and manufactures start unloading the supposed thousands of trucks sitting in parking lots. Not hard for you to think of what pricing will be like for negotiating a new truck at that time.

Read a story in the Detroit Free Press yesterday that Ford is giving firm customer orders either online or submitted through dealers priority over dealer orders to simply fill their lots with inventory.

When I ordered my 2022 they said it would be in by the end of August. Now that we are into September I called to see where my truck is and they don’t have a build date for me yet ….. so it turns out I’m going to have to do a oil change on my 2021.

Agreed... Your going to pay a premium and the quality is questionable.
