Hwy 93 from Missoula to Salmon, ID.

We like to take a different route each fall while heading south. This year we are planning on taking Hwy 93 from Missoula, MT to Salmon, ID. I've noticed Google maps shows a couple of areas of several switchbacks on that route. At Salmon, we will continue southeast to I-15 which looks like an easy route.

We will be traveling in a 40' motorhome pulling a 20' enclosed car trailer which puts us at 65' total length. Will we have any trouble negotiating those switchbacks or anything else on that route that we should be aware of? Thanks in advance.

That's good to know. I can do freeway cloverleafs. Thank-you to all the replies. Makes me feel good about taking that route. We like scenic areas.

A good portion of it is right alongside the Salmon River so it is a little twisty-turny but very doable as long as you don't take the curves too fast. When we did it a few years back in our 40' Phaeton pulling a Jeep, we found it to be very enjoyable and scenic. We spent a couple of nights at the Canyon Pines RV Resort about 9 miles south of Riggins and stayed in site 31 which is a pull-through right on the river and found it to be delightful, however there was no cell service when we were there though there may be now.

Riggins is on 95 no where near Salmon on 93, but they are both adjacent to the Salmon River.

There is a good sized forest fire near the MT/ID border, east of the MT43 junction. Pretty sure it doesn't affect 93 (other than possible smoke), but just some more info for this time of year trip.
