We use Chromecast at home but for all the talk it needs some bit of internet to function. We like remote mountains too much for that to really work.

I carry a laptop and an HDMI cable but would like to use a tablet more and the cable is just plain awkward. So I'm searching for some other device that will just wifi or bluetooth to my DumbTV. Is a SmartTV the only solution?

I picked up an old 3rd Gen AppleTV on eBay for about $25 and Airplay from my iPads or iPhone to the AppleTV.

I have and use IOGEAR Wireless hdmi but I don’t see it being a solution for transmitting from a tablet .
