Now driving thru north east corner of Mississippi to Memphis and saw this sign before the weight station that states,”All Vehicles over 10,000 pounds must exit” (into weigh station)….Never heard of this before, but luckily for me at 14k, the weigh station was closed!

It's here in CA but not yet stated on signage. I've started to see the term " rental trucks" but nothing related to lbs. A truck owner is required to fill out a declaration of GVW and CGW upon registration. If over 10,000 lbs, the front license plate carries the current year with the small corner sticker and your declared weight is posted typically on the door with another yearly registration sticker.
I was able to enter a small set of scales and talk to the officer at the desk. He never took his eyes off the monitor while looking upstream at his video streaming trucks of all size entering and yes....bypassing. This area is common for doing a sting probably monthly.

I am SURE that if any RV'r passes a weigh station without pulling in they will not be chased...
Those LEO's are not concerned with RV's... Not the slightest bit..
That is JUST MY OPINION . .

10,000 pounds on four or six tires (1,666 to 2,500 pounds) isn't what any state is concerned with regarding the destruction of pavement. An 18 wheeler at 80,000 pounds is almost 4,500 pounds per tire.

I have only entered one once--they chased me and my friend down in Burlington, NC and took us back to the scales. My stuff was ok but his was not. The few $ he saved the way he was registered was nothing compared to the fine he paid and the trouble he went through. But I have been all over the US and have never stopped.

Weighing RV's could be a new source of income for municipalities.

I think we're talking generally of 3500 series trucks. Taking this forward 1 step as to limit this to truck campers exclusively, there are states that describe truck campers as " cargo". Now we seem to have just gotten included-

I saw it out west, but it also said EXCLUDING RVs.
Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.

I’ve seen it many times, in Mississippi and a few other states. I’ve ignored it every time.
The only time I’ve stopped at a weight station is when I needed a scale ticket for some reason.
No state weight station cares how much I weigh.
Why? Because I’m not engaged in commerce.
