We are traveling from the Austin TX area to Shreveport with a 36ft 5th Wheel. Has anyone traveled on TX 21 through Collage Station and beyond? Is this road RV friendly? If not any suggestions, trying to avoid IH35.

Have not been on that route; however, most Texas State highways are in very good condition.

Agree that TX secondary roads are better than most interstates. I have driven 21 as far as College Station but use US79 most of the time from Austin (Round Rock) to Shreveport. I have relatives all along 79 I know 79 is a good road for RV and is 4 lane for a lot of the way.

TX 21 is a good road and will accommodate your rig - but parts of it are two-lane. We usually jog up to US 79 to travel between those locations.
